The Tombstone Chamber of Commerce runs nothing like the chamber just a few dozen miles from it in Bisbee, Ariz.

The Bisbee Chamber of Commerce split from the city less than a decade ago, and the chamber has worked to keep things on the up and up for the independent organization.

The chamber does not transfer funds from other city organizations, as its only funds come from fundraising through events and membership dues given to it by members, according to Nancy Jacobson with the Bisbee Chamber of Commerce.

Out of its 196 members, dues range from $30 to $632 between senior memberships, individuals to financial institutions.

A yearly audit to check the receipts for the chamber, digitally kept for the chamber with QuickBooks financial software, and advertising dollars are earned through trading membership dues for advertising space.

Most of the chambers in Cochise County support each other with online advertising under an umbrella organization for Cochise County chambers of commerce, but according to Jacobson, Tombstone hasn’t had a representative at the meetings for close to a year.
